Complex of buildings of the consistory, Radomyshl

The complex of buildings of the consistory is located in the city of Radomyshl, Zhytomyr region. The building is a very old building and now belongs to the monuments of architecture. The construction of the buildings of the consistory began in 1746.

At that time, the Metropolitan of the Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Church was Andrei Sheptytsky. It was he who chose the city of Radomyshl as the residence of the metropolitanand at the same time made it the center of the diocese of Kiev.

Various institutions and institutions operated on the territory of the consistory. It housed a theological seminary, courts and administrative bodies, as well as the leadership of the diocese. In addition, all sorts of spiritual meetings, synods were held in Radomyshl. Such events were attended by a huge number of delegations representing different dioceses. This happened until 1795. Since this year, the consistory has ceased to operate. During the Soviet era, the building housed a general education school number 5.

Until now, only the chambers of the metropolia have been preserved from the whole complex of buildings of the consistory, but during the Soviet era they were rebuilt. The water tower Radomyshl stands on the territory of the school. It was built in 1898. The main architect of this building was K. Ensh. Today it is considered an unofficial symbol of the city of Radomyshl and belongs to local monuments of architecture. Tourists often come to see this landmark.
