District Court (Agrouniversitet), Zhytomyr
People began to live in the territory of modern Zhytomyr already in the 2nd millennium BC, as evidenced by archaeological excavations. The city itself and its name have many legends. According to one of them, the city is named after the young man who settled here.
Founded in 884, Zhytomyr was often raided by different tribes, was once destroyed and burnt, but each time the city was restored. In 1804, the tsar granted the city the status of an administrative center. Zhytomyr began to develop rapidly.
With the arrival of the German invaders during the Second World War, many of the newly constructed buildings were destroyed. The building of the district court, built in 1897, survived by a miracle. The project of the building belonged to the architect V. Bessmertny. Now the building has become part of the agro-ecological university and is listed in the list of architectural monuments.
