The Market Square is one of the oldest and most important squares in Lutsk, not only historically, but also culturally. Here there were tenders between cities and countries, public meetings were held, parties were held. The square was adjoined by the most prestigious streets, where the eminent persons of the city lived.

The market square is located in the Historical and Cultural Reserve "Old Lutsk". The beginning of the construction of this place dates back to the 10th century. Then the area had all signs that are typical for the cities of Central Europe. Here were the city government bodies, the town hall and other public buildings.

The market square suffered a huge number of fires, the largest of which in the 18th century destroyed the town hall. After this event, the area lost its status as the economic center of the city.
