Ruins of the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary
The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary can be found in the small village of Kamenka. It is located on a hill, far from other buildings of a modest town. Almost 200 years ago this area belonged to a large German colony, numbering more than 3,000 people. Confessing the Lutheran views in religion, the inhabitants of the settlement built temples for services in the traditional style of old Europe.
The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary was erected in 1850, richly decorated from the inside and elegantly trimmed from the outside. A distinctive feature of the church is a semi-circular bay window made of five arches on the back of the building. The front entrance is modestly marked by a small eaves and a high door. Home stylistics is chosen with a pronounced Gothic character, which confirms the Lutheran approach in the structure of the church.
The decline of a beautiful church began with the advent of the Soviet era. Beginning in the 1930s, the building changed its owners several times and performed various functions: from storage rooms to the place of village collective assemblies. Since then, the church has never been restored and the building has collapsed. At the moment it is in an abandoned state and is a ruin.
