Assumption Church in Dolmy

Ukrainian Transcarpathia has saved a lot of monuments of architecture, including religious buildings of different times: from 15 to 20 centuries. One of such buildings is the Assumption Church in the village of Dolgoe, Irshavsky district of the Transcarpathian region.

Located on Piaz, it attracts attention with a high tower and stylistics of the building. This Greek Catholic church was built in 1911.Build Style- Baroque. After the October events of 1917 and the arrival of Soviet power, the church was closed, as were many churches that felt the Bolshevik struggle against "opium for the people". To date, the Assumption Church belongs to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate.

Externally, the building has features that are not characteristic of traditional temples and resemble something futuristic. The tower (belfry) is located somewhat in front of the temple itself, however it organically fits into it, creating a holistic perception. Since the construction was carried out a small restoration of the building, which survived the revolution and several wars. Careful observance of the surrounding territory is carefully followed by cult servants, so when you are in Transcarpathia, do not miss the opportunity to visit the village of Dolg and find the Assumption Church.
