Holy Trinity Cathedral, Odessa

Many iconic objects in Ukraine occupy a special place among the sights due to their interesting history, often - the venerable age and the way they managed to survive the troubled times, which were always lacking in the vanity world. One such is the Holy Trinity Cathedral in Odessa. Built in 1891 for the money of parishioners, the temple was subjected to a rigid attitude of atheistically-minded Soviet power. One of these is the Holy Trinity Cathedral in Odessa. Built in 1891 on the money of the parishioners, the temple was subjected to a strict attitude to the atheistically-minded Soviet authorities. Until the beginning of the Great Patriotic War (1941), the cathedral was used for grain storage. At the same time, the building lost the upper part of the bell tower and the dome, which were restored only in the early 90s of the last century.

The cathedral is of venerable age, it was built in 1808. However, it was founded in 1795 and was wooden, but belonged to the Greek community. Hence the first name of the cathedral - Greek. Attached in 1838, two side-chapels created a cross-shaped building in Byzantine style. In the cathedral there are shrines - written in the 19th century on the Mount Athos icons of the Savior and the Iberian Mother of God, as well as the relics of the Saints of God and the Odessa Saints. In 2003, a Sunday school was opened at the cathedral.

Holy Trinity Cathedral was reconstructed in the 2000s. Today, they try to keep it in proper form as far as possible. One thing is certain - while in Odessa, take the opportunity to visit this beautiful place, which is located in the central part of the city.
