Church of St. Anne (Uspensky)

Only two wooden two-tower churches are preserved in Ukraine, and one of them is Catholic - in Volhynia. Now the church with a three-century history is in Kovel, where it was brought from the village of Vishenki. Restoring this temple, restorers were especially careful.

Outside the two-dome church is lined with boards and covered with shingles. Its main attraction is the Baroque altar of the late 18th century. By the way, in the foundation of the current church, a stone was laid, specially delivered to Ukraine from Jerusalem.

The very parish of St. Anne was founded in the 16th centurywith the assistance of Queen Bona. For its history, the temple has often suffered from fire. So, at first the wooden building was located near the Annunciation Church. In the time of Bogdan Khmelnitsky this temple was destroyed, but soon rebuilt. But the church absorbed fire again - it happened in the late 19th century. The parishioners helped in the restoration of the church.

The new wooden church was able to survive during the First and Second World Wars. But in 1945 the Soviet authorities ordered to dismantle the wooden structure. The place of the church was empty until 1996, until a new church appeared there.
