Whitney Houston has earned over 400 awards and honors throughout her brilliant career. She has won two American television awards, the "Emmy", and six "Grammys". Born on August 9, 1963, in New Jersey, USA, she began singing in church choirs as a child and later became a promising fashion model in her youth. Whitney also participated in various musical projects as a backing vocalist, appeared in commercials, and acted in television shows. She simultaneously pursued studies in dance and acting. Her powerful and beautiful voice helped her gain rapid popularity in the music industry. As an apprentice singer, she collaborated with many renowned artists.
At 18, Whitney signed a contract with the famous manager D. Harvey, who guided her career as a model while she continued to refine her vocal skills. After several years of development, she finally joined the record company "Arista Records" in 1985. Her debut album, which bore the same name as her, produced three top-selling singles and sold 13 million copies in the United States alone, setting a record for debut albums by solo female artists. The album received positive reviews from critics and won praise for the singer.
Whitney soon began appearing on popular evening shows that were typically closed to black performers. Her recognition grew after winning numerous prestigious awards, including the "Grammy". In the following years, she released several successful albums. Her dance and acting skills also contributed to her success in creating dynamic MTV videos. However, world-wide fame came to her when she starred in the 1992 film "Bodyguard," which earned her widespread acclaim and made her a global icon.
