Bromo volcano on the island of Java. Very atmospheric place. I recommend for mandatory visits. The volcano is located in a huge crater of another volcano. The crater is a dusty valley of a round shape with a mountain ridge along the edges. I advise you to rent an off-road motorbike, warm clothes, water and food and go there for the whole day. I left at 4 am from the hotel to meet the dawn on the spot. Cloudy weather is preferable, rain is nailing dust. I was lucky - right during my stay there the eruption began and the park was closed. But they could not kick me out.
How to get there? We must go to the city of Malang by train or plane. From there take a taxi to the very volcano. There are many hotels there. Local English do not speak. Eating is a serious problem. In addition to rice and not very fresh chicken nothing. In the area of the volcano there are a couple of restaurants of almost normal level - I advise you to eat there and live nearby. You can also take food with you.
