Another university building, designed by V.Velichko in 1899 & ndash; 1901 The first six years it was used as a student dormitory (boarding house), and in 1907 it was transferred to the Zoological Museum of the University (since 1937. Museum of Darwinism). During the war years, the University was evacuated, but the museum remained in the city.

In his building, the wives of university professors lived and thanks to the efforts of A.V. Pisarzhevskaya, the wife of Professor G.A. Arnold, the museum received a security certificate from the commandant's office. Therefore, and also thanks to the dedication of the staff of the Faculty of Biology who remained in Kharkov, who were protecting the exhibits to the best of their ability, they managed to preserve the bulk of the museum’s collection (for comparison, a significant part of the zoological museum of Kiev University was taken to Germany and the rest burned). After the war, the economic and biological faculties were located in the building at the same time as the museum. And only with the commissioning of the new university building on Svoboda Square, museum areas began to increase and by the end of 1962 the building was completely at its disposal. In 1964, the mineralogical museum was also transferred to this room. This is how the Natural Science Museum was born & ndash; the current Museum of Nature.
