On the property belonging to Deputy Councilor Pletnev, there was a small two-story house. In 1873, its owner became a merchant’s widow, Anna Nikolaevna Dobrynina, who had it completely renovated and expanded in the northern direction according to the plans of architect B.S. Pokrovsky in 1874. The building, in the Baroque style, featured an ornate porch that extended over the sidewalk, with a balcony terrace on top supported by iron columns. In 1883, the house belonged to Anna Nikolaevna Maslovskaya, the wife of another deputy councilor; it was possible that this was the same widow Dobrynina who remarried. In the years 1987 to 1917, the house was owned by the Gladkov brothers—Viktor, Nikolai, and Ivan Pavlovich—and later by the widow of one of them, Olga Semyonovna. From 1891 to 1893, the Gladkoves built two two-story stone outbuildings according to the designs of architect A.F. Zaruchevsky. In 1927, this house housed the psycho-neurological clinic of Professor Getmanovich. After the war, it became a medical library. Today, after restoration—during which the original drawings by architect B.S. Pokrovsky were not used—it now serves as a paid dental clinic. The building is listed as an architectural monument and has preserved its overall original appearance, although it no longer has the balcony with the iron columns at the entrance. #Kharkov #History #Ukraine
