From 1881 to 1887, the property was owned by the merchant Yakov Fedorovich Mishchenko, who in 1881 built the current building, which houses the "Varenichny" restaurant today. The design was approved by the city architect F.A. Nitsenko, and the probable author of the plan was the architect I.P. Ginsh.

In this very building, the publisher of the "Yuzhny Kray" newspaper, A.A. Iozefovich, spent his final years. Today, the ground floor of the building houses the "Gogol" coffee shop, while the second floor is occupied by the "Koniki" fast-food restaurant. #Kharkov #History #Ukraine
