From 1881 to 1887, the property was owned by the merchant Yakov Fedorovich Mishchenko, who in 1881 built the current building, which houses the "Varenichny" restaurant today. The design was approved by the city architect F.A. Nitsenko, and the probable author of the plan was the architect I.P. Ginsh.
