The Ferris wheel is a popular and beloved attraction for people of all ages. Almost every large city has at least one such structure in its central park, and in Moscow alone, there are seven of them. The Ferris wheel first appeared in America in 1893 as a way to compete with the Eiffel Tower. In that year, the World’s Fair was being held in Chicago, and ambitious American entrepreneurs wanted to prove to the world that they were just as capable as the French in creating remarkable architectural achievements. After all, in 1889, the French had built the magnificent Eiffel Tower during the Paris World’s Fair.
