Modern architecture on Klokchovsky Street.

At the very beginning of Klokchovsky Street, at number 3, lies one of the most beautiful examples of modernist architecture in the city. This former tenement building was constructed in 1903 by architect B. M. Korenenko for merchants S. and Sh. Gulko. The building embodies the decorative elements of the modernist style, featuring intricate patterns featuring animal and plant motifs in both relief and flat designs. A particular highlight is the ornate façade, decorated with numerous mythological symbols: among the intertwined branches and fruits, one can discern a bud or a cocoon within which a toothed, tail-chewing dragon has curled up. This is yet another striking example of a building adorned with mythical creatures. Today, it houses various institutions.
