On the east side of Sumskaya Street, a three-story building in the style of Neorenaissance architecture can be seen. In the last third of the 19th century, the owner of the plot on which this building stood was Yegor Fedorovich Lertser, a college registrar and professor. No archival records regarding him have been found. The current building was constructed at the end of the 19th century, according to a design presumably by architect B.G. Mikhailovskiy. The pre-revolutionary building still exists today. In the first two decades of the 20th century, the property was owned by merchants A.I. and N.I. Korotkovy. Before the revolution, the ground floor housed Devrien’s bookstore, while the second floor contained a dental school; apartments were located on parts of the second and third floors as well. In the 1980s and 1990s, the lower floors hosted the “Teatralny” restaurant, and the upper floor was used by an organization that managed public dining facilities. The building’s facades were restored in 1992–1993. Today, a fast-food restaurant named “Puzata Khata” operates inside the building. Information source: ngeorgij.livejournal.com
