Learning Chinese? – That’s easy! A Chinese scientist knows up to 20,000 characters.10 photos
To read Chinese literature, it is sufficient to know 1,000 characters. Knowing just 200 characters will enable you to understand 40% of the content in books, road signs, restaurant menus, online websites, and newspapers. However, for beginners, starting with just 8 characters is enough. The method’s creator, Shaolan, has been fascinated by the depth and richness of the Chinese language since she was a child, but she also recognized its complexity and the difficulty it poses for foreigners to learn. That’s why she decided to develop her own approach to learning this language – one that was as simple, intuitive, visual, and fun as possible. Her educational program, Chineasy, demonstrates to the world that there is nothing simpler than learning Chinese characters. Or at least, being able to recognize them, which is certainly a significant achievement.
Chineasy consists of a series of posters that reveal the secrets behind Chinese character writing. Clearly, Shaolan had a great deal of creative talent as a child, because imagining shapes and patterns from mere lines and strokes requires truly extraordinary imagination!
