Moskovski prospekt, formerly Moskovskaia ulitsa, house number 2

This building, located at the corner of Moskovskaya ulitsa and Nikolaievskaya plocha, was constructed in the first half of the 19th century. In addition to being used by its owners as a hat-making workshop and shop, the encyclopedia VKh-1913 (“All of Kharkov in 1913”) mentions that the Southern Russian Printing Expedition and the “Maxim” café were also located here. During the Soviet era, according to the VKh-1937 encyclopedia, the building housed a dental institute; however, according to B.M. Krasovitsky, it was actually a dental clinic. The A.Yu. Leibfried catalog also mentions a dental school.
