Hier, dans les installations du dépôt de locomotives « Octobre », un autre monument a été inauguré solennellement. Le locomotive à vapeur EU 677—49 a parcouru ses derniers kilomètres en temps de paix et occupe désormais une place d’honneur sur un piédestal, fait de simples rails de chemin de fer. Il faut admettre que loin from every locomotive reçoit de telles honneurs… Celle-ci les méritait amplement. Sa carrière militaire a commencé en juillet 1942 à la gare d’Ojerelije (en banlieue de Moscou). C’est ici que la 10e colonne de locomotives du réserv spécial du Commissariat populaire des transports avait été organisée, composée de cheminots de la ligne Sud. La locomotive EU 677—49 fait partie de ces rares unités qui, malgré les dégâts causés par les bombes de l’aviation ennemie, ont continué à servir avec loyauté. Stalingrad, Orel, Rostov, Koursk, Belgorod, Kharkiv, Kiev, Breslau an der Oder (aujourd’hui la ville de Wrocław), Berlin… Telle fut la route militaire empruntée par la 10e colonne de locomotives. Les machinistes Alexandre Grigorevitch Iakovlev et Ivan Ivanovitch Bobrishev, qui ont conduit la locomotive n° 677—49, font désormais partie des monuments à la mémoire des exploits héroïques des cheminots du Sud pendant la Grande Guerre Patriotic War. Lors de la cérémonie, les responsables des anciennes 10e et 34e colonnes de locomotives, F. I. Estis et S. F. Vassilenko, le machiniste Ivan Ivanovitch Bobrishev, le directeur du Southern Railway, M. S. Konarev, le secrétaire of the Lenin District Committee of the Ukrainian Communist Party, O. V. Skiba, et le vice-minister of the USSR Ministry of Transport, P. K. Lemeshchuk, ont pris la parole. Lors de this occasion, les pioneers and students of the 23rd Railway School also wished the veterans of the former Southern locomotive columns a happy birthday celebration of the Great Victory Day.
