Grushevsky Museum, Krivorovnya

In the second half of the 19th century and before the First World War, the Hutsul village of Krivorovnya served as a place for rest and fruitful work of the entire color of the creative intelligentsia of that time. In this fertile mountain resort, every summer Ya. Golovaykiy, M.

Drahomanov, M. Kotsiubynsky, I. Franko, Lesya Ukrainka, Les Kurbas and many other outstanding figures of Ukrainian science and culture rested. The famous Ukrainian historian, public and political figure Mikhail Grushevsky became one of them.

His house museum has been working in Krivorovne since 2003 of the year as on the very place where his villawas located at the beginning of the 20th century.

On the advice of Ivan Frank, Mikhail Grushevsky first came to Krivorovny together with his family in the summer of 1902. For the next 5 years he lived here in the home of a local resident P. Zelenchuk. And in 1907 he bought from a rich Pole Vladislav Przybylovsky a wooden estate in the place where the Berezhnytska Gulf flows into the Black Cheremosh River.

From 1907 to 1914, Grushevsky and his wife and daughter spent every summer here. Inside the house was equipped in Hutsul style. Mikhail Sergeevich liked it here so much that over time he moved a part of his scientific library to his Krivorovensky house.

Civil war caught Grushevsky here. He hurriedly left for Kiev. In 1917 the villa was burned. From a good manor there were only the foundation, a stable, a barn and a cellar.

Only in 2003 the house was restored for the surviving projectsand memoirs. He stores biographical documents, photographs, household items of the early 20th century. The research office of the scientist was also reconstructed. There is a rare thing exhibited and at the same time a family heirloom & ndash; rocking chair. Now here are held scientific and practical conferences, photo exhibitions, exhibitions of artists.
