The Castle of Yablonovskikh, Marijampolė
The castle was built by the hetman Stanislav Yablonovsky. Once on the site of the tribal castle in the 12-15th centuries was located the ancient Russian settlementChertopol. Over time, the settlers left the area, a new castle called God's Widok appeared here.
The second name of the patrimonial estate is Marijampole. This is due to the icon of the Virgin Mary the Winner, who accompanied the brave military leader in all his campaigns.
Initially the family castle had 4 towers, which performed the defensive function of the whole building. Also in it there were two entrance gates, garrison barracks, an apartment house. During the 18-19th centuries, most of the defensive structures were withdrawn for the construction of a new palace. The ruins of the reconstructed castle have survived to this day.
Near the main entrance to the building is a huge 600-year-old oak, and behind the house is a park with different old trees. Due to the fact that the castle was located at a high altitude, its surviving fragments are clearly visible in most of the Dniester Valley. The ruins of the once beautiful palace are adjoined by beautiful park lanes.
The castle of Hetman Yablonovsky has the status of a local architectural monument, but at the moment is an inactive object. Access to the castle is free for visitors all year round.
