Arch of Kalimbet, Genichesk
In the center of Genichesk there is a local landmark, which is considered to be the symbol of the city - the arch of Kalimbet. The historical monument dates back to 1909.
At one time in the town lived rich merchant of Greek origin Roman Kalimbet. He owned several profitable houses in Genichesk. The oddities of a merchant in the city are still legendary. It is said that he dressed like a beggar, she herself grazed the sheep, but the money was carried into bags with sacks.
The arch on which the initials of the Calimbet family are preserved leads to a former inn with an old two-story building. These buildings are all that is left of the possessions of a rich merchant. On the second floor there was a tavern where visitors slowly dined and drank tea, admiring the wonderful view of the Sea of Azov.
Not long ago Kalimbet's arch was restored. Local residents note that after that, it has changed a lot.
