Turkish bastion, Kamenetz-Podolsky
Turkish bastion is a defensive structure of the Old Town in Kamyanets-Podilskyi. This landmark is an architectural monument of Ukraine of national importance. The bastion is considered part of the northwestern fortifications, the main construction of which was the Polish gates.
During the period of occupation of the city by the Turks in 1672-1699, the bastion was significantly improved, from where its name appeared. A large structure, whose height is about 11 meters, consists of four arches. In them are placed casemate rooms, parapets and embrasures for guns. In 1753, under the leadership of the German engineer Christian Dalke, the bastion was reconstructed, after which he received his second name - Fort Dalke.
