Monument to the heroes of armored train number 56 - a frozen exploit fighters. It is located in Kanev and It was opened for the 35th anniversary of the Victory in the Second World War. The armored train witnessed the history of the NKVD troops guarding the railway on the Kanevskaya Ferry.
Armored train number 56 has a rich history: at station Kiev, during the patrols repulsed attacks from the air, patrolled the sections of Kiev - Teterev and Kiev - Fastov. In the Borodyanka area, the BP-56, led by the 38-year-old senior lieutenant Pyotr Ishchenko, made a combat debut: 6 tanks of German invaders were destroyed by hurricane direct fire. At the Shemet crossing, the crew repelled the attack of the positions of the 14th Cavalry Corps near the village of Lozertsy, the 558th Infantry Regiment secured a retreat, completely eliminating the enemy's battery with merciless fire. BP-56 with its shells and the courage of the crew prevented the enemy from encircling the 1054th Infantry Regiment, in which the future classic of Ukrainian literature fought - Oles Honchar. The armored train covered and left part of the 26th Red Army on the left side of the Dnieper. The monument is unique inthat there was no railway track in Kanev, except for the railway station, which was also destroyed and has not been restored to this day.
No matter how hard the German tried, the armored train still managed to accomplish many feats that do not fade in the centuries. The destroyed BP-56 from a German bomb on the battlefields was revived in 1980 in Kanev for history. A feat sealed forever, as a lesson to the fact that the war will be defeated by any means.
