The building of the water mill Green Mlynok

The rotunda mill is a very unusual building of round shape, located on the bank of the river Tiasmin in Kamenka (Cherkasy region). The mill was built by two masters from Kaluga in 1825 by order of the local landowner V. Davydov.

It is located in a beautiful public garden and was intended for conducting secret meetings of the Decembrists.

According to information from some sources, the mill is of considerable historical significance, since it held negotiations of influential people of the uprising. But as a result of the fact that classified information came to I. Sherwood (a non-commissioned officer of the 3rd special regiment), who overheard conversations of the conspirators, Emperor Alexander I learned about their plans. It is believed that this was one of the reasons for the failure of the uprising. The mill played a role in this.

The water mill is located in the manor of the landlord Davydov and is part of the complex of the Kamensk State Historical and Cultural Reserve. The building was awarded the honorary title of a monument of architecture.
