Fountain of Life

The Fountain of Life is located on Mayakovsky Square in the city of Zaporozhye. Established relatively recently in memory of the victims of the Chernobyl disaster. It is one of the most beautiful and unusual fountains in all of Ukraine.

For many years the place around the fountain is a favorite place for walking people of Zaporizhzhya and visitors of the city.

The composition of the fountain consists of a large rotating ball and several figures at the foot.  This ball is the largest in Ukraine. Its weight is 3.8 tons, and its diameter is 1.3 meters. It is located in the center of the fountain and rotates under the action of water. Due to the well-established technical design, the water layer between the ball and the support itself is only one millimeter, the water pressure is also low - only 3.5 atmospheres.

The whole history of the Ukrainian people is reflected in sculpturesaround the fountain of Life.  These are 8 stone compositions that characterize the history and life of the Ukrainian people.  The most notable is  the figure of Chernobyl. It perpetuates the memory of all the liquidators who died during the elimination of the consequences of the accident. There is a Cossack Mamai - a sign of independence and free spirit of Ukrainians and many other symbolic sculptures.
