The estate of the Decembrists in the village of Chomutets is one of the most interesting sights of the area. The estate is an ancient family estate of thefamily of the prominent Ukrainian hetman D. Apostol. A beautiful wooden house of several floors it built in the middle of the 18th century.

At the dawn of the 19th century, this estate was inherited by a cultural figure and writer Muravyov-Apostol, who made significant changes in the landscape of the estate. Stone walls, walkways between the outbuildings and the main building were completed, and a beautiful park was laid, occupying more than 15 hectares of dense forest.

To date, the estate is recognized as a monument of architectureand is protected by law. Unfortunately, there is no money to restore former beauties. The estate is in a decadent state. Great treasure are the preserved frescoes and stucco of family coats of arms on the inner walls of the halls. In addition, the estate was particularly popular after the events of the 1820s, when the forbidden meetings of the Decembrists-Revolutionaries took place in its walls. The three sons of Muravyov-Apostle were participants in these meetings and admirers of the revolutionary ideas of that era.

On the territory of the homestead park there is a unique three-barreled oak, which was planted by the father in honor of his three sons.
