Scythian ramparts
Scythian ramparts in the Nemyriv hillfort are a real storehouse of historical artifacts, ancient legends, myths and proofs of the power of the Scythians.
Some historians date the Nemyriv ancient settlement 7-5 centuries BC. and argue that these places were the lands of the Scythians. Whatever it was, but the results of numerous excavations indicate that for a long period these lands were inhabited by ancient peoples. They left bronze and bone arrow points, pottery, bronze ornaments, everyday objects and much more.
It is the legends of the wealth and treasures of the Scythians thatattracted to the territory of the present Vinnytsia region not only archaeologists, but also illegal treasure hunters.
Legends of the huge treasures did not leave indifferent Prince Grigory Stroganov, to whom these lands were inherited in 1862. Perennial excavations did not lead to the enrichment of the prince, but allowed to find the remains of Scythian bodies, as well as a huge number of weapons, dishes, bronze figurines and other artifacts. All these findings, as well as those that were conducted in the subsequent time, became part of the Hermitage exposition and the Institute of Archeology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in Kiev.
