The Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin in Novoselvkiv, like most churches in Ukraine, boasts a long but sad history. Although the building is modern, however, the first church in this place appeared in 1780. Then, thanks to the initiative of the Zaporozhye Cossacks, a wooden church was laid.

Although the building is modern, however, the first church in this place appeared in 1780. Then, thanks to the initiative of the Zaporozhye Cossacks, a wooden church was laid. It has served its congregation for many years. Until the 30s of the 20th century the church was the main cathedral of Novoselivka.

During the October Revolution, the church was closed, then during the Second World War services were resumed. This went on until 1960, until the Soviet government decided to re-equip the temple for a sports hall, and in 80-ies it completely disassembled the cathedral.The workers managed to dismantle the wooden structure with great effort, but the foundation remained inviolate and continued to be destroyed only under the influence of natural forces.

In 1985, on the old foundation, a small church was built in honor of the archangel Gabriel. In the 2000s, it became dilapidated and then the history of the modern cathedral begins. The Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin in Novosyolivka was laid in 2003, then the place of construction was consecrated and works began. In 2008 the church was opened. Soon the first divine service was held here.

Outside the walls of the temple are decorated with decorative mosaic, inside - decorated with paintings. The architect plans to install a memorial plaque with the names of all the masters who took part in the construction of the temple. The Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary is the main spiritual shrine of Novoselivka and one of the main cathedrals of the whole Novomoskovsk district.
