Werewolf

One of the most mysterious places in the Vinnytsia region is Hitler's former "Werwolf" (in translation from German "werewolf" or "armed wolf"), located near the village of Strizhavka. From the once powerful complex, consisting of more than 80 exterior buildings, several underground bunkers, there were only huge piles of concrete. But this is enough to represent the scale of these structures, because the thickness of the bunker walls was several meters.

Construction was started in the autumn of 1941 and lasted until the end of 1943, as prisoners of war and local residents were used as labor. Morethan 10,000 peoplewere involved, almost all of them were destroyed after the completion of work. During the offensive of the Red Army units in March 1944, all communication rates were undermined by the retreating fascists.

In 2011, in the territory of "Werwolf", the opening of a memorial complex for the memory of the victims of fascism was held, as well as an exhibition of military equipment and weapons of the Great Patriotic War. Employees of the complex conduct excursions, which allows you to get acquainted with the history of local places.
