Sculpture Laocoon
The sculpture "Laokoon" in Odessa is a copy of the original sculpture "Laokoon and His Sons", which is in the Vatican funds. Entrepreneur G. Marazli, traveling through Europe in the late 19th century, was struck by the luxury of the original and ordered to order a copy for his dacha. Subsequently, this entrepreneur became the mayor of Odessa. The sculpture was created in 1870.
After the October Revolution the sculpture was nationalized and was exhibited several times in different places. Thanks to the active support of city architects, it was decided to decorate the parks of the city with sculptures, in the list of which this sculpture entered. She is was established in 1927 year near the House of Culture of the Army and Navy. She was there for 45 years and after several acts of vandalism was moved to the Archaeological Museum, where the eye pleases so far.
