Museum of Historical Treasures of Ukraine
The Museum of Historical Treasures is located in a small two-story building, on the territory of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra in Kiev. It was opened in 1969 in a former monastery bakery, designed by the Ukrainian architect Stepan Kovnir.
The museum collection is considered one of the richest among the countries of Eastern Europe. In his funds are stored works, made by masters of jewelry business at the earliest stages of the history of Ukraine.
The exposition of jewelry is presented in the museum in three main sections. In the first one you will see silver and gold monuments of art of the 6th century BC - the 13th century of our era, in the second section of the museum there are items of Russian and Ukrainian jewelers of the 14-19 centuries, the third section is devoted to numismatics and is famous for exhibits dating from the 6th century to our era - 20th century AD.
Examine the museum rarities, pay special attention to the collection of funeral treasures, the pearl of which is the case of a Scythian sword, made of pure gold and adorned with delicate figures and precious. No less significant example of antique jewelry art is the famous golden pectoral, which is a massive breast ornament depicting scenes from Scythian life and mythology.
You will certainly be delighted, presented in the museum with objects from the burial of the Sarmatian queen. The collection includes ancient Persian, Greek ornaments that were made in the 1-2 centuries of our era. They amaze with their luxury such unique ancient creations of Kiev masters as pendants for temples and a diadem, as well as shoulder bandages found in the village of Sakhnovka.
In addition, the museum has a magnificent collection of historical jewelry, made of silver and gold in the 14-16 centuries. These items of fine work were brought to Kievan Rus from Byzantium. You can admire the frames and frames for icons and religious books, decorated with rubies, emeralds, pearls and sapphires. There are also recognized masterpieces of Ukrainian jewelry art by such famous masters as Ivan Moshchenko, Ivan Ravich and many others.
In the museum you can see not only the items found as a result of excavations in the territory of Ukraine. His funds hold the works of European, Russian and Jewish masters. Given the value, antiquity and variety of exhibits, this museum can rightfully be called one of the most interesting in the capital.
