The authorities of Thailand named the country's 13 cleanest beaches

The Kingdom authorities tested the ecological state of hundreds of beaches in the country - and gave the highest rating of "5 stars" to only 13 of them.

The Department for Pollution Control environment (PCD) has assigned to these recreation areas the highest score of five stars. Among the best included beaches in the provinces of Chonburi, Prachuapkhirikhan, Suratthani, Phang Nga, Krabi and Satun. This is reported by the publication Phuket Gazette.

Most of the mentioned territories are in national parks, access to which is closed during low of the tourist season from October to May.

Coastal areas were assessed by such criteria as water quality, oil and plastic pollution, garbage collection, reef status, etc. PCD experts have been monitoring the beaches annually since 2002. They check the state of 390 recreation areas throughout the Kingdom.
