What civilization left giant statues in the valley of Bad

One of these places is the Bada Valley, which is located in Indonesia on the island of Sulawesi.

Throughout the valley of Bada you can see giant stone sculptures. In all there are about 400 pieces. Approximately 30 statues are images of people with strict and even gloomy faces. All of them are made in one style and do not differ in any artistic variety. Interestingly, judging by the sex characteristics, ¾ of all the statues depict men. Some statues combine images of several people. In the outlines of other sculptures you can recognize animals, and some of them lie on the ground.

Scientists date these strange buildings with a fairly wide time range: from 3,000 years BC to 1,600 AD. The statues are made of solid stone, and their height is from 1 to 4 meters. Ancient idols are located in groups or singly and, as a rule, are confined to ancient burials. Scientists suggest that they depict ancient ancestors or are associated with ritual burials. Most of the statues look to the west, towards the sunset.

Most of the statues even have their names, which they are given by local residents. For example, the highest statue, standing at an angle to the surface, bears the name Palindo. In the opinion of the Indonesians, this is nothing more than people turned by higher forces in stone for committed crimes.

Scientists still can not figure out what kind of civilization could create such stone giants. In the valley of Bad was found no tools, no adaptations, no other evidence of the existence of ancient masters. Moreover, in the vicinity there are no deposits of the type of rock from which the statues are carved. It seems that they were brought here from another place. But nothing like this was found on the neighboring islands or anywhere else on the planet. Any written sources capable of shedding light on the origin of the multi-ton sculptures were also found.
