Toyota has declassified the new hatchback Corolla

The American version of the Toyota Auris presented at the beginning of March in Geneva received a new design, an unusual, "hybrid" variator and a platform based on the architecture of the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA), used in the Prius and Camry of the latest generation.

In comparison with the current version, the "five-door" has become longer by 38 mm (4369 mm), wider by 30 mm (1791 mm) and lower by 25 mm (1438 mm). The wheelbase of the car increased to 2639 mm (+38 mm).

As stated in the company, the installation of an additional seal in the gaps of the body panels and the use of better sound-absorbing materials allowed to reduce the noise level in the cabin. As material for the tailgate, a recycled polymer is used - Toyota Super Olefin Polymer.

The interior of the model also changed. In addition to a more spacious cabin, the hatchback can offer the owner more storage compartments for "small things", as well as holders for glasses and bottles on the front and rear doors. The central console now has space for storing a smartphone with a 5.5-inch display. In addition, the cabin has an 8-inch touchscreen display supporting Apple CarPlay and a sound system with six speakers.

But more significant changes are hidden under the hood: the place of the old 1.8-liter engine was taken by a new 2.0-liter "quadruple" of the Dynamic Force Engine family with combined injection and variable valve timing system at the inlet and outlet. At the moment, the technical characteristics of the power plant are not known.

Combines the motor with a 6-speed manual gearbox or a new stepless Direct Shift-CVT transmission, capable of simulating the operation of a 10-speed sequential gearbox. The new transmission has a sport mode and the world's first "starting gear" - the classic stage with a gear drive is used at the initial stage of acceleration from the site.

The hatchback is equipped with the complex of safety systems Toyota Safety Sense of the second generation including the system of warning of departure from the lane, the system of automatic switching of the main beam, the collision avoidance system with the function of the definition of pedestrians and active cruise control. Seven airbags are provided as standard.

Sales of new items in the US market will begin this summer.
