Salt Mines of Soledar - one of the oldest and most beautiful salt deposits in the world
Today Soledar is a quiet and calm city in the Donbass, but just imagine that 250 million years ago, in its place and in the place of the whole region was a real ocean. Over time, it dried up, but left behind a gigantic amount of salt. It was buried underground for many, many centuries, until in 1876-1880 in Soledar a well was laid, showing the presence in the thickness of the earth immediately 9 salt layers, the largest of which had a diameter of 40 meters.
Already in 1881, the first salt extraction was carried out here on an industrial scale. And at the moment the salt deposit is considered to be the largest in Europe and one of the cleanest and oldest in the world.

Over a hundred-plus years of work in the mine formed deep passages and huge halls. So, in one of them even a concert hall was made, and in another - a football arena. In addition, underground cafes and a church were opened for tourists here. But the most amazing place was the speleosanatorium, where no medical methods are used, and the therapeutic effect is achieved due to the uniqueness of air containing a small amount of salt dust.

The salt sanatorium in Soledar is a popular place. People come here from different places to treat respiratory, skin diseases and allergies. After all, there are very few places on the Earth where all the healing factors so ideally coincide. However, if you have nothing to treat, then certainly worth a visit here with an excursion.
