The climate of Feodosia

The climatic conditions in the region of Feodosia are largely determined by the proximity of the sea, mountains and steppes. They create a special microclimate here. In winter, the sea gives heat accumulated over the summer, so very low temperatures are rare. Autumn, mainly warm, winter is short, usually snowless.

The average temperature of the coldest month (February) is 0.2 °, although the northeasterly winds that are not obstructed by the steppe can lead to a fairly strong fall in temperature (an average of 76 days with temperatures in November-March below 0 °). In the winter months, dry dry mountain winds blow dry, causing a sharp warming. In the warm half of the year, southern and north-western winds dominate. Summers are hot, dry, the average July temperature is + 24 ° C. Sometimes the heat reaches 35 - 36 °. The temperature of the air is greatly influenced by the sea. In April-September, atmospheric air gives off part of its heat to the sea, and in the cold season the warmer sea warms the air.

Northeasterly wind, which causes a drop in air temperature and a strong wave of water in the bay, is unremarkable in autumn-spring. The influence of the prevailing southern wind is especially pronounced in the summer. In the warm season, the north-west wind often blows. Dry and dust storms occur in the spring and summer. The climate of Feodosia is influenced by summer breezes and hair dryers.

Sometimes winds blow off the surface layer of water in the bay, and cold deep waters rise in its place. In the summer there are days when the temperature of the water near the coast of Feodosia drops sharply, despite the hot weather. Usually the warmest sea is in August, when the water warms up to + 21.2 ° on average. The average monthly sea water temperature in August and September is + 19.8 ° C. and + 19.3 °. The season of sea bathing on beautiful sandy and small-pebbly beaches in Feodosia continues the holiday season from May to October. The length of the beaches in the region is 58 km, including 31,5 km in Feodosia proper.

Precipitation falls a little - 376 mm per year (151 mm in the cold season, 225 mm - in the warm). But in the holiday season sometimes there are downpours accompanied by mudflows. At times, summer showers give up to 20% of the annual rainfall per day. According to the average annual number of hours of sunshine (2275), Feodosiya surpasses many other Black Sea resorts. The greatest number of sunny days (13) - in August, and in the spring there are less than in the autumn. There is a hot dry summer, a short and little snowy winter, a cool spring. Much warmer than spring, autumn is the best time of year in Feodosia.

Feodosia enters the zone of warm steppes with a hot and dry climate. Such a climate is favorable for people's health.
