The small Italian commune, located in the south of the country at the base of the legendary boot heel, is famous all over the world for its unique houses that everyone knows as trulli.

History The construction of these unique houses is really unique. That is why they are listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. These houses, traditional for this area, were built by the method of dry masonry. Moreover, the roofs were conical. It was enough to take out one of the roof elements, as it completely collapsed. This design pursued a specific goal. At one time, it was forbidden to build any houses. However, the local leadership allowed to build trulli. In case of a visit of officials from the capital, the houses could disappear in the blink of an eye.
