A famous resort with an unknown history. Dairy Lake

Every corner of Ukraine is a casket in which beautiful gifts of Nature are kept. One of these gifts was Molochny Lyman, the water heart of the Zaporozhye region. Passing by this pond, you can mistakenly take it for the Sea of Azov. And partly you will be right.

The milk firth is a lake, the formation of which was engaged in wind, sun and ... military actions. Until the end of the 15th century the Milk Estuary did not exist, and in its place was one of the many bays of the Azov Sea. Gradually, thanks to the sun and the low fullness of the rivers Teschenok, Dzhekelnya and Molochnaya, the amount of water in the lake decreased, and at the end of the 15th century, the land completely surrounded the Gulf of the Azov Sea, turning it into a salty Milk Lake.

Saved the drying lake, oddly enough, the Great Patriotic War. During the liberation of Ukraine, a large number of shells fell into the Dairy Lake, forming a kind of hole through which water came. Already in the second half of the 20th century, Molochnoe Lake became a favorite vacation spot for Ukrainians, and a national children's health center, along with the Crimean Artek.

Today, the Dairy Lake does not lose its position as a recreational zone. The popularity of the lake, especially in the summer, adds to the proximity of Kirillovka (one of the favorite resort of the Ukrainians) and the similarity of lake waters to the Sea of Azov.

Dairy lake is difficult to attribute to the list of the largest lakes in Ukraine. Occupying a relatively small area of 170 square kilometers with a length of 32 km and a maximum depth of 3 meters, the lake can be called one of the most unusual reservoirs of our country - it's a lake filled with real sea water.

Spread along three districts of the Zaporozhye region, the lake provides fish directly to the whole region, as well as neighboring regions. In the Dairy Lake from the beginning of the second half of the 20th century, the catch of the Azov and Black Sea derrangas is observed, which occurs exclusively in seawater.

Due to its marine past, Dairy Lake has preserved a huge number of rare plants and animals, of which more than 14 species can be found only in the Red Data Book of Ukraine.

Today, the Dairy Lake is a fully equipped recreation area. Nekrutye banks, steppe nature, shallow, and therefore warm, water have exactly the same beneficial effect on the body, which is famous only for the sea. A lot of boarding houses, rest houses and mini-hotels are open on the banks of the Dairy Lake.

But the warm summer climate of the Dairy Lake is great for resting with a tent. And drinking water and products, as well as medicines, you will find in any nearest village.

Getting to the most popular resort on the Molochny Lake - Kirillovka, you can by your own transport or by bus. Having chosen the first path, follow to Zaporozhye, at 190 km to the south from which Kirillovka is located.
