The sand dunes of Maspalomas
Maspalomas dunes represent a considerable four square kilometers of solid sand, which is in constant motion. Dunes are located near the spa town of the same name.

The city itself is located in the southern part of the island of Gran Canaria, the Canary Islands. Dunes Maspalomas arose as a result of crushing corals in the sand, under the influence of the ice age. Now, the dunes move from two to five meters per year. Since 1987, Maspalomas has been granted the status of a nature reserve. In the depths of the island with dunes, another natural reserve - La Charka - is bordered. This unique lake, which under the pressure of the dunes regularly changes its coastline. The lake is an important staging post for migratory birds.
