Center of Folk Art Petrikovka

Petrikov painting is a unique artistic craft that has its roots back in the pre-Christian times. Then people decorated their homes with magical ornaments designed to protect them from evil forces and troubles. Since then, a lot of time has passed and ancient traditions turned into real art. Petrivka settlement is small, but it has a huge cultural significance for all of Ukraine. Here, till now the original Ukrainian crafthas been preserved and is developing. Art Petrikovskaya painting can be seen on objects of everyday life, paintings, decorative elements of houses and much more. At the end of 2013, Petrikovskaya painting was included in UNESCO's list of intangible cultural heritage of humanity. In the early 90-ies of the last century the center of folk art "Petrikovka" was opened, uniting 45 masters of painting. Here you can get acquainted with the history of ancient folk painting, take a master class or buy a souvenir to remember. In the exhibition hall are paintings, household items, ornaments, original wood products, painting on canvas and ceramics. Not far from Petrikovka, in the village of Sotnytskoe, there is the Petrykovsky stud farm where you can ride horses.
