Lake Svityaz

More than two hundred lakes scattered in the northwest of Ukraine, like beads, and each is unique! The most famous is in the Volyn Polesie near the town of Shatsk - this is the incredible beauty of Lake Svityaz, which together with other nearby lakes is part of the Shatsk National Nature Park.

This is the largest and deepest lake in Ukraine. In some places it reaches 58 meters of depth and covers an area of ​​more than 2.6 thousand hectares. The average depth is about seven meters, but the coastal zone is shallow. Have to overcome more than a hundred meters to reach the depth of the chest. In these places, the water warms up very quickly. The nature of the Shatsky Park is unique and rich - you can find over eight hundred species of plants. In forest zones, hares, roe deer, moose, newts, also otters, badgers, etc. live. You will have the opportunity to eat blueberries, blackberries, cranberries, raspberries. And the mushrooms collected in the forests will be skillfully cooked in the best traditions of Ukrainian cuisine by local chefs. Specially located pavilions in recreation areas have a favorite occupation of Ukrainians - cooking shish kebab. For fishing enthusiasts - this is a paradise, you only need to ask the foresters a map of the park, where the permitted fishing places are marked, and maybe you will be able to catch the Svityaz delicacy - eel. But if you are unlucky, do not be disappointed, in local kolyba you will taste fish for every taste: baked, grilled, in sour cream - all and not listed.

Svityaz is a romantic lake, in the middle of which is the Island of Lovers. Following one of the legends, earlier on the place of the lake there was a castle in which Prince Tugan lived. Once upon a neighboring land attacked by enemies and Prince Mindovg called to help Tugan. Prince Tugan gathered together with his retinue, leaving women, children and old people unprotected in the city, as well as his beloved daughter. And so, when he left the city, at night the enemy troops attacked. The young princess prayed that the castle should not be left to the enemy. Suddenly, everything suddenly went underground and a wonderful lake was formed, and the locals turned into beautiful flowers.
