This place is known in Ukraine as a strong wall:in 1240 it tried to take Khan Baty, but the castle withstood the annual siege, in 1254 did not yield to the governor of the Golden Horde Kuremse.

The construction of the castle in 1366 was started by the Polish King Kazimierz III, and the Lithuanian prince Gediminovich continued in 1382. The architectural ensemble acquired its final look only in the 16th century. It consisted of two bridges and three towers: "Gateway", "Cherlena" and "Above the New Home"; the prince's palace, the church of St. Michael. In 1536 the owner of the castle was the wife of the Polish King Sigismund I - Queen Bon Sforza. It was in honor of her that the mountain was named, where the castle is now located. In the autumn of 1648, the Cossacks besieged the castle and after a year and a half of fighting took it and destroyed it.

In the early 20th century, the castle was to be dismantled, and the stone used to build roads. Fortunately, this was not realized. Now only a significant part of the walls with the remains of loopholes remained, only two tiers of the gate tower, as well as traces from the well.
