Medical Library of Ukraine, Kiev

The National Scientific Medical Library is the largest scientific and information institution in Ukraine. It specializes in in the field of medicine and health care, provides bibliographic, information services for students, teachers of medical schools and medical practitioners conducting scientific medical research. The institution was founded on November 6, 1930. The library is housed in a large-scale building (2,975 square meters) since 1969. By decree of President V. Yushchenko in 2006, the library was awarded the status of a national library.

The number of employees of the institution is 177 people. The structure of the library consists of 18 units. The cause for pride is a significant fund of literature on the medical and biological direction - more than 1.5 million allowances, which makes it possible for the institution to be on the list of libraries with the largest fund of such literature in the whole of Europe. The richest literature fund is the cultural heritage of the country.

Annually more than 72 thousand medical workers apply for the services of the institution. The National Scientific Medical Library cooperates with libraries and educational institutions in Europe and America, and is also the center of a network of similar medical libraries in Ukraine.

The library works on weekdays and on Saturday.
