Valley of shadows and death, Sevastopol
And this area is not for the faint-hearted.
Once, in the middle of the 19th century, on this earth, during the Crimean War, fierce battles took place. As you know, then, at the beginning of the second half of the 19th century, the Crimean peninsula became the center of the bloody battles of Russia with Turkey, Britain and France. Initially, disputes were about the freedom of Russian shipping in the Mediterranean.
Then here, in the valley, thousands of soldiers were killed, and the soil seemed to be broken up, dug up by cannonballs. Up to five pieces were found on one square meter.
Since then, there is a depressing, oppressive atmosphere here. It literally envelops the one who will venture to descend to this dead, dry, sinister plain. They say, it's especially scary here with the approach of twilight: everywhere you hear chilling cries, moaning agonizing people, flashing frightening, horrifying shadows.
Those who saw the valley after the last battle, in shock, said: "death itself has set its nest here!"
