Mykolayiv Church, Olshany

The church in Olszany is one of the oldest templesSlobozhanshchina, which miraculously survived to the present day. The exact date of its construction is unknown, according to one data it was 1753, on the other - 1741. In 1793 the cathedral was reconstructed. The three-dome composition of the church is typical for the wooden churches of Ukraine. In the early 20th century, the temple was expanded and side vestibules were added.

During the Second World War, prisoners were kept here and mass graves were carried out. In the Soviet period, the church remained operational, but for several years it served as a warehouse. At the same time, the church was redecorated and a brick bell tower was added. A small restoration helped to preserve the four images of the evangelists who adorned the walls of the temple and brought to the present day the original the only authentic painting of churchesSlobozhanshina early 18 century. It was she who became the main decoration of the cathedral and its tourist pearl.

The Church of St. Nicholas in Olshany is the main spiritual relic of the entire Kharkov region and the most important tourist value of Olshan.
