Cathedral of St. Sophia, Zhytomyr

The Cathedral Church of St. Sophia is located on Zamkovaya Square. The construction of the Catholic Cathedral ended in 1751. It was created in the Baroque style with Renaissance elements.The facade is divided into two tiers, the top is decorated with two sharp spiers, as well as the sculpture of the Virgin Mary. The walls of the church are lined with brick, the thickness of which reaches 2 meters, which indicates the possibility of defense use of this structure.

In the 19th century the church was reconstructed, changing the appearance to a more classical one, but at the same time preserving the interior decoration. The ceiling and walls are decorated with the same stucco as 200 years ago, on the right side of the entrance there is a crucifix and a bowl for washing hands is installed.
