Shcherbinin's Manor, Babai

In the village of Babay are the remains of the once majestic estate of the Shcherbinin family. The age of the estate exceeds 200 years. Initially, it was the property of the local priest J. Pravetsky.

From the 19th century, the estate passes into the possession of the Shcherbinin family. Grigory Savovich Skovoroda stayed in the house more than once.He liked not only to stay here, but also to create his own immortal works. The family communicated with outstanding personalities such as A. Pushkin and L. Tolstoy.

Today the Shcherbinin estate is included in the historical monumentsof Ukraine and, perhaps, if restored, would become the pride of Slobozhanshchina. From the original view remained part of a single-story house. Previously it was surrounded by a lovely garden and ponds. Here and there, Masonic signs are still visible, because one of the Shcherbinin entered the secret community. Several rooms are used, the rest is destroyed by time and weather.
