The Gansky Palace (Balzac Museum)
In the village of Verkhovnya, Zhytomyr region, there is an interesting two-story empire-style building with white columns. p>
The palace built in 1800, the huge park surrounding it, outbuildings and the church-tomb belonged to the Ghanaian family. The manor was brought as a gift to the young wife of Count Eveline. The young beauty entered into correspondence with the famous French writer Honore de Balzac, signing her letters "Inostranka". The secret novel on the pages of letters lasted 15 years (until the death of the Count). After that, Balzac married a widow and moved to live in the Verkhovna.
Here the writer composed several famous works and the famous drama "Stepmother". Well-preserved study, several more rooms tell of his life in general and the estate in particular. The rest of the palace is given for agrotechnical college.
The Gansky Palace is considered an architectural monument, is listed in the State Register.
