St. Nicholas Church
The multi-domed St. Nicholas Church is the first and only Orthodox church, located in the town of Vilkovo on the banks of the Danube River. The church has a long history. The first foundation was laid in the early 19th century. The end of construction is already in the 20th century. The consecration of the temple occurred only in 1902, in honor of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker.
The church is located near the city market and bus station, so it is easy to find it to witness the beauty of the temple. The interior is decorated in two styles: Baroque, which was characteristic of the 16-18 centuries. art of the Christian world, and modernity. In the temple you can see the extraordinary beauty of the icon, brought from Mount Athos, Jerusalem and Kiev.
For more than 100 years, this church has been taking parishioners every day, regardless of the mass persecution of the clergy since 1920.
Visiting the St. Nicholas Church in Vilkovo, you will also visit the "Ukrainian Venice" - this is the Lipovan part of the city where the inhabitants move exclusively by boat along the Belgorod Canal, the so-called water avenue.
