Assumption Church, Glinyany

Surprisingly, the wooden building in Glienany, where for many centuries the church was located, could survive and survive. In Galicia, this temple is considered to be the oldest wooden buildingth.

From ancient times, from the mouth to mouth, legends are told that the hetman Khmelnitsky himself planted two trees near the church. And the hetman Mazepa, who was in these parts, specially looked in the church to pray in it.

The building of the church dates from the 11th to 15th centuries. It miraculously managed to survive during the fire, which left no trace of the many wooden buildings. There is a legend about how several centuries ago a violent fire swept the city. Everything was aflame. The fire approached the church doors with waves, but retreated in complete impotence. And suddenly, over the temple, people saw the Mother of God, who stretched out her arms, saving the church from the flames.

In Soviet times, like many other religious buildings, the church was closed. The museum of carpet weaving was equipped in the building of the church. Now the temple is again open to the parishioners, and people visit it, turning their prayers to the miraculous icon.
